PML2 AIRPORT EXPANSION

PANAMA CITY, PANAMA

THE METRO LINE 2 EXPANSION BRANCHES FROM THE NEWLY DEVELOPED RAPID TRANSIT CORRIDOR, RUNS FROM SAN MIGUELITO TO NUEVO TOCUMEN. THIS BRANCH ALSO CONNECTS THE METRO LINE 2 WITH THE TOCUMEN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, TO INCORPORATE THAT TERMINAL AREA TO THE MASS TRANSIT SYSTEM OF THE CITY.

THE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT INCLUDES THE CONSTRUCTION OF A STATION THAT WOULD SERVE THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING (INADEH) FOR THE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS OF THE HIGHER TECHNICAL INSTITUTE OF PANAMA WEST (ITSE), AND A TERMINAL STATION  AT THE TOCUMEN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THIS NEW VIADUCT WILL EXTEND AN ADDITIONAL 2.3 KM OF EXTRA VIADUCT, HAVING TWO STATIONS AND A TRANSPORT CAPACITY OF 8,000 PASSENGERS PER HOUR. THE PROJECT ALSO REQUIRES THE DEVELOPMENT OF TWO NEW SUBSTATION-BUILDINGS THAT HOUSE THE CORRESPONDING TRAIN SYSTEMS.
